Arnie taunts after Austria goal

|

Almost inevitably, Marko Arnautovic grabbed the only goal of the game in Austria’s  UEFA Nations League win against Northern Ireland last night.

The Hammers main man was a constant threat and eventually got on the end of a Peter Zulj’s pass before firing past Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

He then ran over to Leicester centre-back Jonny Evans, pounded his chest and appeared to laugh in his face, before removing the captain’s armband and waving it to his critics.

Of the incident, Arnautovic said: “There is always emotion. Nothing much. I play against him a lot. Nothing personal just emotions.”

Northern Irelan now need to win Monday’s match against Bosnia and Herzegovinato keep their fate in their own hands.

Northern Ireland did not get a sniff of goal until after the half-hour mark when Ollie Norwood’s raking ball found the run of Shane Ferguson, but the Millwall man – making his first start in almost two years – got his angles all wrong to head high and wide.
