Following the first announcement from Amanda Staveley regarding the ‘Gold’ shares – Vanessa Gold’s 25.1% shareholding in West Ham United – Daniel Kretinsky moved swiftly to nullify her offer and seek to acquire the shares himself.
As we now know, the Czech Sphinx passed some 2% of his own shareholding over to fellow Czech businessman Jakub Havrlant to avoid triggering a clause forcing him to buy the balance of the shares in the club at an inflated price.
Round one to Kretinsky.
Staveley then apparently pivoted and countered, by offering to buy David Sullivan’s 38% shareholding in a move which would have taken the Czech by surprise. Round two to Staveley?

In for 25% of West Ham United initially: Amanda Staveley also bid for David Sullivan’s full 38% share holding.
Now according to sources this evening, Staveley has had a response from Sullivan who has rejected her bid worth some £240 million for his shares outright. Former Sun journalist Alan Nixon claims that:
“Sullivan to play hard ball with Staveley” ..
Sullivan has ‘batted away’ her offer as being far too low. No real surprise to anyone remotely aware of the former Chairman’s modus operandi.
The ball is well and truly in Staveley’s court to respond with an increased offer, pivot again, or simply walk away. Somehow I don’t think we’ve heard the last of this particular boardroom drama.
The real estate aspect makes for an attractive proposition for Staveley would be worth potentially billions so she has an opportunity to take a risk for a big reward.
I also don’t have a lot of faith in DK given what we have seen so far. Anyone but DS could have got those deals done for Fernandes and Summerville and we haven’t signed anyone of consequence yet, will give credit for keeping Bowen but not for anything else and if he wanted to have someone run the club Staveley is better than who is currently in place and offers a chance to bring Howe in at a later point.
Look for the podcast the Football Boardroom. Informative and presents a realistic view of what may happen.
Meanwhile, two days to the start of the new season and still NOTHING has improved.
I thought her offer to Sullivan was 600 million ?
38% of £600M
Wouldn’t work anyway, DK would still be the majority holder
But them two working together prob the best outcome
Round Two To Stavely?
Hardly – if she buys Sullivan’s shares it dont make a lot of difference, DK will still have control if he takes AG’s shares. Also – don’t forget that if/when Sullivan agreed a price with Stavely they would go back to preemptive rights, meaning DK could buy around 10% on the first round 🙂
Absolutely no reason for David Sullivan to give away his lifetimes work. Especially to someone he barely knows.
Hang on in there David.
