Battling Hammers give us plenty to admire at City

|

Man City 3 Hammers 0

Match verdict by Hughie Southon

As expected of course but a reshuffled Hammers team couldn’t have battled much harder against the best team in the land.

For 45 minutes we had a dream as the well organised defence kept City at bay big time but it was all to change far too quickly after the break when Oggy somehow decided to keep Ake on side for the opener.

After that we were dead and buried by two more from Halland and Foden but never humiliated and the goal average didn’t have too much damage done to it.

With no Rice, Soucek and Aguerd, allegedly ill, but it would be a surprise if they don’t turn out against Man United at the weekend, the lads did very well.

It is probably true to say City were not at their best but that was as much to do with the Hammers defensive performance as anything else notably in the first half.

It would be going too far to say one was proud of the performance but certainly there was a lot to admire in this and we move on,

Man U next and let’s be honest they are nothing like as scary as the Sky Blues.

Considering the team we put out due to injuries and sickness it was a better result than could have been expected!
I wouldn’t want to watch City each week, they pass teams slowly to death. Given their vast wealth gained by ignoring FFP rules with weak monitoring by Premier League, UEFA and,FIFA. They will dominate league and cups for years to come!

    Cowardly manager.

Decent well organised performance overall. Don’t know about illness, but the changes made sense. Having said that, individual errors from players brought in undid us, but when they don’t play regularly then touch is hard to maintain. Note that City used a lot of subs, but once again we didn’t use the full bench. One for one positionally every time by Moyes. From here on in we need to hunt points every game, he should have run out Cornet and Lanzini keeping them all match sharp.
