BBC pundit gives out advice to West Ham fans

|

Danny_Murphy_MOTDBBC MOTD pundit Danny Murphy told talkSPORT that West Ham fans they must ditch their romantic ideals of a manager who has previous connections with the club and understands the West Ham Way.

“I love West Ham fans’ passion but everyone does this thing where they say ‘We need someone who loves the club’ well you don’t actually by the way, It’s a myth, an absolute myth, what about the lad who is now at Watford who was at Hull (Marco Silva)? He hasn’t got a clue about Watford and they’re flying.

“There’s an opinion from a lot of West Ham fans that the next one in has to understand the club, what it means and what should be going on… they don’t.

Listen if Moyes isn’t the man then fine I accept their opinion … but what I’m saying is what is your criteria for the next manager? It should not be that he knows the club and how it works and all that rubbish… it’s absolute nonsense.

“What is important is, is he good at his job? Can he move the club forward? Has he got a bigger/longer term picture? What’s he going to do to make it better?”

He is totally right on this one!

  • Lazurus. rises like a salmon says:

    Says who max ? That’s you’re opinion !
Bonds and brooking have the best win ratio to everyone else ! Self explanatory , fact !!
Its a subject most punters ,Murphy included , do not comprehend , just another know all fek all punter getting above himself ! What does he know about west ham , he’s just a young punter with not a clue of this club and its history , its ways , its passion , he’s a punter defending his pal Moyes if truth is known !! My ad ice to him is mind his own business when it comes to us supporters , pop us and we take it personal ! No body is denying the likes of Silva is a good manager , but ever since the 66 world cup people have been agitated that we won it the west ham way , a set piece taken quickly front post not back post , (Hurst v Argentina , ditto ) 2 players in correct positions , and a quick pace breakout and pass for Hurst,s hat trick ! All or most northerners have had a deep grudge embedded in their DNA ,
They knock us at every turn !! Fek Murphy he knows nothing , nothing about this club its all about his POV ! I disagree with him and anybody who says there is no west ham way or style which has been lost since we started employing managers from outside the club , that’s why Moyes is #16 ? Lol we had 3 for donkeys years then they sacked lyall , for a manc ? Bonds came in and stabilized us , coincidence , naa,, brooking, naa , I’m done on this one ! Everybody will have their views , and I’ve got mine , no body will convince me otherwise !!

  • JRS says:

I agree butbi think we need a coach w a link to help Moyes w Culture

  • JRS says:

I’m backing Moyes and think there will be positives but in this situation u here about how he shouldn’t have gotten rid of whole staff at Man U.
That’s why when I heard Pearce was coming I thought good will give him a link plus he won’t have any laziness.
We’ve needed a change in staff and he will get Irvine it seems but I think having that link will help out a lot

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

If the coach plays entertaining football and wins more than they lose I really don’t care where they are from, Wenger had no connection to Arsenal, Guardiola likewise at City, Pochetino at Spuds, Klopp at Liverpool, Ferguson had no connection to Utd, Conte none to Chelsea nor Mourinho before him. It is irrelevant and perhaps even a hindrance being bound by what you percieve to be the way of the club. We need someone with long term plans that will install a style of football throughout the club that is entertaining as well as being results based.

  • IronMan says:

I can see both sides of the argument but let’s look at two West Ham men: on the one hand, Gentleman John Lyall was an absolute legend, our Bill Shankley and will never be forgotten. ‘H’ on the other hand was the media’s darling but, in my opinion, was responsible for putting the club back a generation by selling our best talent to line his own pockets, starting with Rio And remember, Rio did not want to go. Both men Irons men to the core, but at the end of the day ‘H’ was no John Lyall. It all depends on the man. It’s all about attitude. If David Moyes is made of the right stuff, we are fair and we will take to him and adopt him. If not, we won’t.

I read this article assuming it would be offensive but actually it isn’t.
I agree with Iron man that west ham history does not guaranty good management and with 32 that good quality football and more winning than losing is more important.
