Big majority in LS racism poll

|

Michail Antonio – confronted with figures from Sky that 87 per cent of football have seen or heard incidents of racism inside stadiums prompted him to make some pretty radical suggestions about how to stop it.

He suggested that maybe matches should be played behind closed doors or that there should be points deductions applied.

However, in fairness Michail believed the figures sounded pretty high and he would have put it at less than half of Sky’s data at around 40 per cent.

We felt the same and personally – as a season ticket holder along with Sean – we decided to test the Sky research given the dramatic response from Antonio on where we should go next on the issue.

And after launching a poll asking the Hammers supporters whether they had witnessed such behaviour inside the London Stadium we received a very different response.

The poll attracted over 1100 responses of who 194 (17.31 pc) claimed to have seen or heard such stuff whilst a crushing 927 had never heard or seen anything at all!

    C’mon fella’s.
You really think people are going to admit they’re racist or have heard racist chants or comments?
    Dream on.
We’re better than some clubs and worse than others but we all know racism is very alive in 2019 at football grounds all around the world.
The far right are on the rise.
You, I and everyone knows it.

Selective hearing I fear. I hear it around me at pretty much every game.
