The Athletic have reiterated that West Ham are in no hurry to sell any of their key players.

As I wrote yesterday afternoon, an email has been sent out on behalf of Daniel Kretinsky to agents and players informing them that the club intends to retain them to help secure promotion from the Championship.

Whilst the report in The Athletic doesn’t quite go that far, it’s clear West Ham are trying to get a very clear message out to rival clubs . . . don’t make offers for our players.

Even Fernandes And Summerville Told To Stay

Claret & Hugh were told yesterday that even the likes of Mateus Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville have been told the club would like them to remain at the London Stadium.

Whether that is a tactic which actually works remains to be seen, but as things stand West Ham expect Jarrod Bowen, Dinos Mavropanos, Taty Castellanos, Malick Diouf, Tomas Soucek and Mads Hermansen to remain at the club.

It is an ambitious stance, but one which appears to be backed by Daniel Kretinsky.

Big News Expected Next Week

There is also due to be some as yet unspecified “big news” later next week which is likely to give more detail regarding funding or the club’s debt position.

Whatever that announcement proves to be, it is clearly being viewed internally as significant.

We’re Not Negotiating

As things stand, the message to all clubs via every media outlet seems to be exactly the same.

We’re not entering into negotiations.

Whether that position softens when bids actually arrive is another matter entirely.

But for now, the movers and shakers at West Ham appear determined to show that the old days of panic selling and being backed into a corner are over.

I guess as something has to happen by the 30th June, in a financial capacity, which we all know, next week seem about right!
