Whilst the West Ham board put down a clear marker in their opening statement last month, fear remain amongst the fan base with rumours rife and recent claims just last week suggesting Aston Villa’s intent  to lure skipper Jarrod Bowen away.

In all honesty the Hammers’ skipper could have his pick of top Premier League sides if he wished to leave – and few could blame him after six years service at London Stadium –  so there is understandable anxiety over Bowen’s future as a Hammer.

Pa in law Mr Danny Dyer may well have lifted the lid on Jarrod’s thinking

However father in law Danny Dyer may well have given West Ham fans the biggest signal yet that West Ham’s captain intends top stay and slug it out in the Championship. Speaking to talkSPORT at a weekend charity match – ‘A Match for Emilee’, which raised money for sufferers with neuroblastoma, Dyer may have  lifted the lid on Bowen’s stance:

“First and foremost, he is my family, the father of my grandchildren, of course. It’s been tough for him.

He does deserve Champions League football and whatever decision he makes, or made, I would have supported him.

“I don’t think he’s going anywhere, and I think he will rip up the Championship, don’t you worry yourself about that.”

Which is a pretty clear statement over Bowen’s future. And for that West Ham fans may have something of a spring in their step this July morning.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.
