West Ham have been made favourites to land Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez in the past twenty four hours. The Hammers were previously behind Liverpool was were ranked the 4/1 favourites.
Yesterday morning Bookmakers Bet Victor were offering 6/1 for West Ham to land Gomez before September while rival Sky Bet were offering 5/1. After transfer rumours that West Ham were in negotiations with Celta Vigo and Manuel Pellegrini wanted to conclude business early those odds were quickly shortened.
Bet Victor has now made West Ham the 15/8 favourites (1.875-1) and Sky Bet have the Hammers at 7/4 (1.75-1) to sign the 22 year old.
It should be noted that these transfer special markets are very volatile and a few hundred pounds being waged can quickly change odds.
Celta Vigo appear now to be safe from relegation after a 2-0 over La Liga champions Barcelona over the weekend in which Gomez scored. They are now on 40 points in 14th place, 5 points clear of the relegation zone with two games to play. Gomez is claimed to have a release clause of £42m.
