Callum Marshall gets first serious Baggies run-out

Exciting Hammers prospect Callum Marshall had his first serious run out for loan club West Bromwich Albion tonight coming on as a sub in the 63rd minute.

But he had few chances to impress as high flying Southampton won the game 2-0  and have now lost just one in their last 28 games.

Saints were also without on loan Hammer Flynn Downes who many claim has been the heartbeat of the team this season and who is set for a return to the Hammers next term having been used as a loan to complete the James Ward-Prowse transfer.

Marshall, meanwhile, making his first serious appearance in the Championship made his first  near contribution 14 minutes after arriving off the bench, heading wide from a corner,

Three minutes later he stopped Saints setting up an attack from the back when making a good block to send the ball out for a throw in.

But towards the end of the game who produced two magnificent sweeping passes but was unlucky that decent centres didn’t come in as he raced in on goal from his central position.

And close to the end he just failed to send former Hammer Grady Diangana in on goal with a pass from just outside the penalty area.
