Cand H Exclusive: Hammers update Bowen’s chances

West Ham are “hopeful” rather than “confident ” that Jarrod Bowen will play a part in the match against Sevilla on Thursday evening in Spain.

A game against the six times winners of the Europa Cup looks to have become far more difficult than originally with the news that the player still has a very badly swollen heel.

A scan has shown that there is no damage beyond that but given he has such a short recovery time the medical staff aren’t confident that the No 20 will make it.

And that is going to leave David Moyes with a real dilemma as he looks to reshuffle the team that started against Liverpool.

He may opt to keep Manu Lanzini in front of the back four should Declan be available following illness and perhaps push Tomas Soucek into a more attacking role.

But it would seem foolish to trust Said Benrahma – Bowen’s replacement on Sunday – after his horrible recent form.

An insider updating us on Jarrod said: “His chances of playing may be as small as 10 per cent.  His ankle is still very badly swollen and he has so little recovery time, we are hopeful rather than expectant.”

Not sure what all the talk about Bowen is, he has been dire in the last 3 games.. He deserves a break. Bring in Benrahma for him on Thursday and lets just focus on the players that are fit.
