West Ham are understood chasing top Manchester City prospect Cole Palmer.
The 20 year old is well known to Ron Newman from his days at the club when he was also involved with the youngsters at the club.
Palmer has made 22 appearances in all competitions for the club this season and is seen by manager Pep Guardiola as one for the future.
But although he has a contract until 2026, having signed his present deal in 2021. he may be anxious for a permanent first team breakthrough which will be difficult with Kevin De Bruyne in front of him.
City do not want to sell a player who they see as being a successor to 31 year old De Bruyne and the Hammers are understood to be very much in touch and looking to offer a fee at the end of the season.
Newman is believed to be the driving force behind the move for the right sided attacking midfielder.
