Carragher nails the West Ham Way

|

Jamie-CarragherJamie Carragher has risen from one of my favourite pundits to No 1 after a brilliant exploration of the West Ham Way this morning.

But for a scouse accent Jamie would be seen as insightful and bright as Gary Neville so for those Irons unable to get past the merseyside tones here’s his take a look at what he has to say about us in today’s Daily Mail @http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3286766/Dimitri-Payet-perfect-fit-West-Ham-Way-beat-Chelsea-Slaven-Bilic-s-six-contenders.html.

Jamie has nailed it!

He explains that West Ham fans are fiercely proud, a tradition which defines their club and that following an impressive start to the season, when they have secured some wins that were beyond all expectations, it has been talked about even more.

He adds: “I don’t think it’s that complicated. The ‘West Ham Way’, as I see it, is a team that tries to play entertaining football at the weekend, with a couple of players who can get fans out of their seats and looks to promote good young players through their academy.”

Dimitri-Payet-605211He says that’s how he has always regarded them and that as he grew up in the 1980s, the entertainers were Alan Devonshire and Frank McAvennie, while Paolo Di Canio and Joe Cole picked up the mantle in the 1990s. Now they have another to continue the tradition in Dimitri Payet.

He says, absolutely accurately, that they want entertainment over achievement and that he understands that. declaring that the days of silverware being shared out among clubs have gone.

He asks “What is wrong, then, with wanting to give fans some enjoyment along the way? Slaven Bilic certainly seems intent on providing that, particularly with the outstanding Payet.

He discusses the Sam Allardyce approach but explains “I like Bilic as a character and the way he’s set up his teams on the road this season has been superb.”

He discusses Payet and Winston Reid and more. It’s a great piece and I urge you all to read it in full as he comes to a conclusion on today’s game and what it could mean for the remainder of the season.

FINALLY a pundit who understands the West Ham way, it’s time for the old pundits from the 80’s to step aside and let the new bread of Carragher, Jamie Rednapp & Neville take over

Excellent article.Him & the other Jamie were superb when they went for Souness’ jugular last season when the miserable man started rubbishing our club.
