Carroll/Reid/Lanzini updates

|

Andy Carroll is still on course for a November return and is picking up the pace in his training routine.

There are now hopes that the player could be ready for action for either the Burnley home game on the third of the month or Huddersfield away a week later.

Carroll is now running after undergoing extensive rehab work on his ankle injury which has seen him missing since the penultimate game of last season against Manchester United.

During that campaign he made just 18 appearances.

The news is not so good on Winston Reid who has been out with a knee problem since March when the Irons suffered a 3- defeat by Swansea.

The latest prediction is that the central defender could return to the squad soon after Christmas while Manu Lanzini – sidelined with an ACL knee injury – could be back before the end of the season.

I wish Lanzini would be the one back sooner, Carroll being rumoured to be back and being back at the time rumoured or ahead of schedule, can any of you remember a single time when that actually happened without setbacks ?

I have been a consistent supporter of AC as a player. Let’s not go through all the fors & against arguments yet again! However I felt in his customary few games last season he was less of a threat than before. My conclusion was that all those injuries have caught up with him. So I don’t expect a lot from him but it would be nice if he could get in half a season & maybe show what he can do when at his best. That would be enough in my opinion to make a difference to our season.
His career has been a sad ‘if only’ story & I imagine he will be on his way in 2019 (although we have said that before!) & it is more likely to be a step down than up. But I have seen some good performances from him & would like to see his time here end on a good note.

Nobody coming back any time soon.Could it be time to throw a novice in.I am thinking Xande Silva. Its worked on numerous occasions to kick start a teams season.
