Carroll unlikely for London Stadium return at weekend

There seems little chance of Andy Carroll coming back to haunt (or otherwise) West Ham on Saturday afternoon when the Geordies arrive for what looks a vital game for us.

Unsurprisingly, the former Irons striker is injured again and unlikely to be on the pitch or in the dug out for the game.

Now back home, little seems to have changed in AC’s world for just as he was apparently ready to make his appearance in the squad for Wolves last weekend he went down with a groin injury.

This was despite  having had a special treatment programme put in place by manager Steve Bruce guided by a team of medics.

Whether his absence from action is a boost for the Irons is a tricky one as they look to continue their winning form over the team over whom we recorded a 3-0 and 2-0 double over last term.

Carroll, 30, scored 34 goals in 142 appearances during seven years at West Ham after joining for £ 15million from Liverpool in 2013, following a season on loan in east London.

  1. It IS a boost for us because, if had played, he would have scored. That is the West Ham Way !
