Champagne Bellanova?

|

It is no secret that West Ham are prioritising signing a new right-back this summer, with Torino’s Raoul Bellanova emerging as a top target.

Vladimir Coufal, a consistent performer for West Ham, is turning 32 next season. Additionally, his contract situation seems unresolved, with reports suggesting he’s unhappy with his current wages.

Ben Johnson, the other option at right-back, has shown inconsistency and is unwilling to sign a new contract. His departure on a free transfer seems likely.

But, West Ham’s technical director, Tim Steidten, has identified Bellanova as a potential solution. The 23-year-old Italian has impressed with Torino this season.

West Ham faces competition from Aston Villa and Manchester United for Bellanova’s signature. His valuation has reportedly tripled since Torino bought him last summer. Transfermarkt currently have valued at about £10 m.

In a recent interview, the shy and retiring Bellanova compared himself to Manchester City’s Kyle Walker, highlighting his pace, dribbling ability, and crossing skills. This audacious comparison has generated excitement amongst West Ham fans.

West Ham hopes to leverage its location and the potential for Bellanova to become their starting right-back for years to come in their bid to secure his signing.

West Ham clearly needs a right-back, and Bellanova appears to be a promising target. However, they face competition from established Premier League clubs. The upcoming transfer window will reveal if West Ham’s offer and the “London factor” can convince Bellanova to join their ranks.
