Sky pundit Paul Merson says the Chelsea result in unimportant for West Ham this weekend and it is games against Stoke, Newcastle and Bournemouth that really matter. The former Arsenal predicts a 3-1 loss for the Hammers at Saturday lunch time.
Merson wrote on the Sky Website “These aren’t the games that matter for West Ham. I know it is a London derby and they don’t like each other. I don’t expect them to get anything from this, but if you lose to Arsenal and Chelsea it isn’t too bad. It is the games against Stoke, Newcastle and Bournemouth that matter most. Chelsea are a superior football team by far. West Ham’s battles are still to come.
Chelsea have turned a corner, and have some good fixtures coming up, so I expect them to be putting pressure on Manchester City.”
Has he been drinking again ? I suppose when Spurs were not so competitive he would say when they met the gooners the result wasn’t important…
Every result and performance is important when you are in a relegation fight, if we do well against Chelski and Arsenal and make progress again from the Man City game it will reinforce the players belief that we are on the way up, although I would agree that the performance is more important than the result in those two games, the result is still important and the fact it is against Chelski then Arsenal who we soon meet in the cup it has added weight COYI !!!
