Not quite sure what got into Eddie Howe’s head as he launched his bizarre outburst against West Ham following Bournemouth’s defeat against Manchester United last night (Tues).
He chose to make it clear that the Irons had bid for pair of players and even explained that it wasn’t the reported £25 million.
Maybe being Bournemouth he’s not used to seeing his players command two pars in the tabloids suggesting there’s been a bid so without any irony let me explain – Eddie it happens! :-).
And should it be a match day and you are asked about it in the post-match press conference the best way to handle it is to say “no comment” or merely explain there has been a bid but that it’s not acceptable. End of.
Instead he chose to go into a mini rant about the timing of the offer and suggestion that West Ham are out of order to do so…err No.
West Ham didn’t release the news and as was suggested by ClaretandHugh’s senior insider the news could easily have been leaked to the press at the Cherries end or via an agent.
Unless Mr Howe has some firm evidence the Hammers were responsible he should perhaps keep quiet rather than trying to blame those who have denied being responsible.
I can only believe a 3-1 drubbing by an average United team had – as it’s bound to – a very distressing effect but oi Eddie that’s down to you and your players – NOT US.

I can’t help but think we should not be looking at Bournemouth for new players though
I’m not bothered where they come from if I’m honest,if they are better than what we have or add something to the team then they can come from Accrington as far as I’m concerned.Lets not forget Antman came from Forest,Cresswell from Ipswich.Two Champ teams.The club we sign from is irrelevant for me,its the player we sign & if he improves us that matters 😉
I like Eddie Howe,maybe he was having an off day or maybe he wasn’t telling porkies at all.
We cocked it up when we had a massive chance of Europe .. Not just the Europa League , but the Champions League as well . Now maybe we ( Bilic included ) have learned something . First lesson : stop shouting your mouths off . Second lesson : stop blaming the refs . Third lesson : we weren’t as good as we thought we were .
Ok , so now we need to build for the future and need some extra prowess up front .
If Sacko had scored his relatively easy chances , if only Carroll had not failed horribly with only the keeper to beat , if only one ball had crossed the line ??? , it’s al, irrelevant now .
We are relying on Man Utd to win the FA cup against a Palace team that really want it so that we get a back door chance of Europe . We blew it and we should realize that . Some tactical issues are very har to explain ,,, ask Bilic about it . Carroll playing and no crosses .
Do West Ham now play soley on the ground with no mix and match ?? .
Whatever our transfer policy is , we need strikers and committed defenders , not a mish mash of semi midfield , semi defender , and semi attack . Bilic lost the plot and that’s why we are where we are … Too much emphasis on style and attack has been our downfall .
Hopefully we have learned our lesson .
We have progressed without a doubt and we have had a bitter/sweet season .
Onwards and upwards , Slaven will get us there , but as I say , the lessons must be learnt .
