Tony Cottee has delivered an icy “what are you waiting for” blast at the two Davids following Sam Allardyce’s admission that there has been no contract offer to him yet!
Asked in his morning presser whether there had been any discussions Allardyce said: “Not yet. There’s still a way to go but we’ll talk when the time is right.”
And Cottee -talking exclusively to ClaretandHugh admitted: “I don’t get it – what are the owners waiting for? They are playing Russian roulette with the club.
“It’s not what’s right for them, Karren Brady, Sam Allardyce or anyone else but what’s best for West Ham United.
“I really don’t know what else Sam and Neil McDonald have to do to get a new deal. They have done everything required and this idea that the owners only do business at the end of the season is wrong.
“There are pre-season tours to be organised and why would Sam be interested if he isn’t sure whether he will be here.
“The fact is he is standing there with a fantastic record and nobody has made a move in his direction – I just don’t get it because there are plenty of clubs who will want Sam Allardyce .
“He keeps teams in the division and it’s desperately important we stay up next season and the one after that as our first in the new stadium.
“The owners need to get the deal done.”
Just let me know which part of the ground I need to wave at and I’ll do just that… π
Funny thing is the fact that Biggin says the chairmen dont pander to band wagon monkeys.Must be the same monkeys who wanted to see more entertaining football so the chairmen in the summer have as a key point the need to play more entertaining football.I guess it was just coincidence.Nothing to do with us monkeys desiring a better style of football.Or maybe it was Sam took the idea of more entertaining football to the board.Ofc if we monkeys had kept quiet & made out we were all satisfied with last years style of play we could be watching last seasons dreadful stuff again this year.Yeah,we monkeys really shouldnt be vocal about subjects involving our club,it achieves nothing, just shows us to be superficial fans.Yeah if you say so Biggin.Wave to us from the directors box next match,i can only assume thats where you watch matches from π
Biggin Hill, what did you smoke??? Are you talking about that BFS, the king of rubbish-football, or a namesake? I fear that you will soon be homeless…
Yeah were all band wagon monkeys Biggin. We have no clue about football.Dont understand which style of play we prefer or who we prefer seeing in the forward line. What was it,about half of people in the vote didnt want Sam to get a new contract. That makes about Eighteen thousand band wagon monkeys in the ground every home match.Thats a lot of bananas the club have to supply for our halftime snacks.Maybe i might scale up the outside of the flats by the ground so i can watch the games for free next season,Pffff π
Most of this ‘Big Sam Out’ rhetoric is just bandwagon stuff. It’s relevance holds less meaning the longer it goes on. It’s not Allardyce that is out of touch with the fans. It’s the superficial fans out if touch with reality. He’s deserved a new deal, he’ll get a new deal. I’ll put my house on. Why? Because the owners don’t pander to bandwagon monkey’s. You’ll be very hard pressed to find anyone in football who thinks Allardyce isn’t doing a splendid job. That’s just the way it is…
sam has to go cant believe cottie wants him to stay or his he trying to get his job back with w ham BFS OUT
FFS about time we get off BFS case and get behind the team and the manager. If I hear another person say Malky for manager I just like to pint out that he got FIRED for not performing. I have loved this season so far and travel down once a month as I live in the Midlands. i would rather see us winning under SAM than losing and playing this Westham style of football while losing.
Perhaps the owners have so one else lined up. I am pretty sure the owners wouldn’t leave the club exposed to such risk. BFS refuses to do himself any favours: zarate, wrong formation, not playing our best strikers as a pair, Nolan etc etc oh and consistently overestimating his own tactical genius. On that basis I am sure he will get no shortage of offers and we can all move on
Has Tony been to the majority of West Ham games in the last few years? Most has been turgid football, and the man himself is arrogant and pig headed beyond belief and this is a reason why a lot of fans do not also like him (me included) as brought up on characters such as Brooking and Bonds and Greenwood and Lyall who care for the club and are modest and gentlemen . . . West Ham way anyone?
Again despite the new style which looked good as soon as his favourites are well again he reverts to the same boring football, he is not going to take us forward. Yes he has “done a job” but that is it. Lets move on . . .
BFS fan number one strikes again well done conkerpot, are you a relative or a stalker that BFS has to worry about, when you get your way I hope when you watch another boring 0-0 draw and the stadium is half empty but we avoid relegation by a couple of points and not one top player wants to join are club until his past his best you will be so happy
BFS must go in the summer for this club to grow and yes conkerpot you will enjoy the ride with us delusional fans.
Tony cottee is spott on. He looks at the situation not just as a fan but also with a professional eye as someone who has seen West Ham from all sides. As a punter a player and as a pundit.
I agree with everyone.I think maybe TC has lost touch with the majority of the fans.We dont want to see a team that avoids the drop, nor do the chairmen.Sam has done his job of consolidating us,now is the time for someone to take us to the next level.BFS will not bring that to us im sure.He had opportunities this season to show he can change but has always reverted back to type.If we only wanted to stay up then fine keep him, playing the way we do under him,but it aint going to get 54k fans into the OS to watch his type of football week in week out.It certainly aint going to sell the club to new fan bases which the Davids seem to want.
I would never blame the manager for his approach to the game. We hired Sam to do a job and he has done it, albeit not in the fashion that most fans would like. This season is the test of whether he can move up in style terms and the jury is still out on that one. The team is clearly capable of great performances, but his team selections and/or positional decisions sometimes stifle the open play that we’ve seen the team capable of this season.
I remain convinced he can’t adapt his style from fear of losing and consistently trying to defend a one goal lead for unfeasibly lengthy periods. Giving him till the end of the season is actually quite generous. I prefer Tony as a player than a pundit.
Tony we don’t want to offer Big fat Sam a new contract as we do not like the way and style he makes our team play, you would’ve hated playing the style of football is now being played at Our club so you do not talk fo the majority of the fans and I believe that is how the 2 Daves think aswell,
Tony Fernandes could use him more than us and with them heading for the championship
And back to lump and jump its a good fit,
Tony you would be better coming up with better options of who would be a better manager
As long as it’s not Van Gaal because our players would only become confused with his explanation on any form of plan,
Sparrow I totally agree with you, we have to think in perspective and change the mentality if we want to win something. Our future motto have to be “We will win” and not “We’ll try not to lose”. This is the big difference between a winning club and a tin-pot club.
βHe keeps teams in the division and itβs desperately important we stay up next season and the one after that as our first in the new stadium.”
Therein lies the problem. Cottee is thinking just like Sam. It is the mentality of trying not to lose, rather than setting out to win. We need to be thinking of consolidating and pushing on, looking up not down, thinking about how we cement a top six place in future rather than avoiding relegation.
It is for this very reason that I believe Sam is not the man to take us forward and Cottee has encapsulated it very succinctly.
“There are plenty of clubs who will want Sam Allardyce” . Great news! What are they waiting for??? Come here and take BFS!
