Criminologist calls for paramilitary policing at OS

|

the_root_of_police_militarizatA former criminologist told talkSPORT today there should be a kind  of paramilitary policing presence because of the perimeters and the concourse at the London Stadium when West Ham play Spurs, Chelsea or Millwall.

The Spurs fan who claimed to an expert in crime prevention who used to lecture on football hooliganism  claimed that violence will continue if the club and their landlords don’t introduce a strong police presence at the ground.

We’ve got huge problems here and it is not just about the London Stadium,” he said, speaking to Jim White on talkSPORT.

“There is a rise in football hooliganism which is under the radar at the moment. In a way, what happened with West Ham and Watford was good because it highlighted the fact that we have got a rise again between the ultras.

When the London Stadium was given to West Ham, I thought, as a former criminologist, that this is a recipe for disaster because there is a lack of security. We have seen that across the Premier League.

“We have to look at the fixture lists and if you have the likes of Chelsea, Spurs and possibly Millwall, there is no love lost between those clubs. There has to be a kind of paramilitary policing presence there because of the perimeters and the concourse.

“You have got old faces turning up all of a sudden and they will do even more for the Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal games, so it is a recipe for disaster.”

I wonder how many of the plus two’s might be these old faces, probably a load of baloney that article, not saying that football hooliganism isn’t on the rise, seems to be unrest right accross the world at the minute but football should never forget the violent years, thugs need to be removed as best as possible from our sport, the only way that happens is if the club, the fans and the authorities all come together to stamp it out as happened previously.
