Former Hammer David Cross reckons Slaven Bilic’s Way is better than the regularly mentioned “West Ham Way.”
Crossie made a rare visit to the Boleyn for the FA Cup replay against Liverpool and will be back for a final time following an invite from the club for the last game of the season.
In a new interview with ClaretandHugh he said: “ I am not sure I could call what I saw the old West Ham way of Greenwood and Lyall. The old West Ham way would not have won many Premier League games in reality – this is better!”
The whole evening was emotion-charged for the former centre forward as he added: “When I got off the tube at Upton Park and walked down Green Street I thought it would be the last time and that was sad for me so it’s wonderful to be making one last visit.
“The fans were terrific, as always at the Boleyn Ground. I don’t get to go or watch many West Ham nowadays because of my job as scout for Blackburn Rovers but it was great to see the Hammers in action under Bilic”
“I gave Phil Parkes a call and we met up in the Legends lounge with Alan Devonshire. I have very simple needs, I just need a seat and a team sheet, that’s all.
Speaking of the West Ham’s FA Cup match win against his employer Blackburn Rovers. “The atmosphere of 7,200 away fans was amazing and they even had the home Blackburn crowd amused with their songs.
“I spoke to the players afterwards, they were gutted but said they didn’t realise how good and classy many of West Ham’s players in the current team were. They were completely outclassed on the day.
“When you are drawn against a Premier League side in the cup you hope they don’t turn up on the day but the Hammers had a great game against us and deserved to go through to the next round”
Hello Yorkshire, yep agree with you all a real warrior, used to love watching him.He is correct about this way being the better West Ham way…this way is getting results & proper end products possible the way the season is going. If I’m honest I find the ‘West Ham Way’ constantly being talked about a bit cringe.I will now go hold my head in shame, lol
hi everyone, first time on here but a regular reader. Crossie was a fantastic player and totally agree bubs a right battler.
The one and only Physco, a West Ham legend for the four goals at Tottenham all those years ago, what a night that was…
Crossie is out of the same mold as Antonio, not blessed with the gifts of some players he worked hard battled anyone and everyone, you had to admire him as much as I admire Antonio.
Great news the Jewel is ours at last for 4 years,
Another great signing he is worth double that money now and in a couple of years he will be a £30 million plus player but hopefully he will stay for a lot more years
