Cullen reminds Pelle with a late, late, show

|

It’s difficult to keep Josh Cullen’s name out of things at the moment as the midfielder goes from strength to strength on loan at Charlton.

On Saturday he was again key figure for the Addicks as he struck a late penalty to give the Championship outfit a point against Slaven Bilic’s table toppers West Brom at the Hawthorns.

It can hardly have gone unnoticed at the London Stadium where last Thursday – ahead of the Sheffield United – the manager talked him up as being very much a part of the Hammers future.

And that appears to mean that the 23 year old could easily be heading for a new contract when his current one expires at the end of the season.

Mark Noble will be unable to go on forever and it seems more than possible that Josh – who has always admitted his heart belongs to the Hammers could step into that midfield role given the opportunity.

On Saturday the late goal was a life saver as the south east Londoners kept up their challenge for the Premier League with a draw which came against all the odds.

And afterwards he said: “They are the moments that you are in the game for. I enjoy being under that little bit of pressure. It was nice to be able to put it away and make sure we got what we deserved at the least, a point, today.

“I’ll keep doing my job and keep performing as well as I can for the team and that will be me happy.”

Hopefully he will soon be doing the same at West Ham!
