Fabrizio Romano’s right-hand man, Matteo Moretto, has reported that West Ham have rejected Roma’s improved offer for Crysencio Summerville, believed to be worth close to €50 million.
The Hammers have a £50 million valuation of the Dutchman, meaning the Serie A club are still a little over £5 million short of the magic number.
It means the West Ham hierarchy have now rejected two offers from Roma, despite sections of the Italian media reporting that a deal for Summerville would be wrapped up today.
Roma Expected To Try Again
Writing on his X account, Matteo Moretto posted:
“Tonight, West Ham responded negatively to Roma’s second offer for Crysencio Summerville, but the Giallorossi club is planning a further relaunch during the course of today.
The gap is truly narrow, decisive hours.”
West Ham Hold The Cards
Whether or not that proves to be the case remains to be seen.
However, Roma are owned by American billionaire Dan Friedkin, so presumably finding the additional funds shouldn’t prove too difficult if the Italian club are determined to sign the winger.
As Claret & Hugh has reported throughout the summer, West Ham’s position has remained remarkably consistent.
The asking price is the asking price.
And until a club meets it, Crysencio Summerville looks set to remain a West Ham player.
Personally I think we should offer him similar to Bowen. We need to keep Summerville, he will be hard to replace.
Our team lack goals, Bowen and Tatty will get some, Soucek whrn he returns, but otherwise it looks barren. We need Summervile to chip in with 810 goals!!
Why the picture of Nuno’s with head in his hands? This seems to be a positive story — i.e. we’re no longer handing out bargains. About time!

With this hard sell looks like Bissaka will be staying at £25m.
I guess that means the £40m release clause was for 100% upfront payment only or was never a thing
