West Ham co-chairman David Gold has told the fans to keep their heads up in the current injury crisis declaring: “The back four and middle three is a brilliant set up.

“We have a £12 million striker on the way back now who is desperate to prove himself and with Mauro Zarate in good form we can be confident.

“Here we are in the middle of one of our worst injury crises in a long time – six key players sidelined – and to be putting out this sort of team shows how far we’ve come.

He told ClaretandHugh exclusively: “The back four has kept two clean sheets and with Noble, Kouyate and Song (above) across the middle that looks fantastic.

“I can’t believe many fans would have been unhappy in the summer if we had told them that would be the three across the middle.

“Michail Antonio is looking highly promising  and will get better but the fact we can put out this sort of team shows just how good the other injured stars actually are and how well we have bought.”
