David Gold has revealed the words passed to him before the match at the Emirates from manager Slaven Bilic.

And he has told ClaretandHugh exclusively: “If we could go back in time, knowing what I know now, Slaven would be the only choice for manager. He has done a great job in such a short space of time and is a very impressive man.

“He had a game plan an every one of the players followed it. We looked a very good team indeed. Before the game he said to me ‘We don’t need a miracle to win but we do need to be at our best’.

“We can now move on with great confidence in this very important year – Reece Oxford was outstanding and we looked a very decent team indeed.”

We are all pleased after one game, but we need to add a couple of class players in the next 2 weeks,
Team spirit is going to be the difference this year,we need a win next year to make this weeks win worth while, and we need to turn our ground in to a fortress,
And go away looking for 3 points every game no more respect the point,
Great day yesterday best day since Sir tree headed home,
And you pundits out there the keeper was not the only person at fault,
Payet took a brilliant free kick and the defence got it so wrong but Kouyate got it perfect,
The defence for the second stood and left Zarate with to much room and his strike left the keeper rooted,
We were worth 3 points the Fans were brilliant as always
I no longer think we need another right back as Tomorrow proved he can cover there,
We longer need Song we have that position covered by 3 people,
Just one brilliant forward should do it I hope we get Hernandez as he is a squad player and great goal scorer
    Brilliant weekend

What a result. Means nothing unless we get 3 points next week though.

The fact that we went there, not to respect the point, but to win is the difference for me. No more negative formations etc.

Bubs, see what your saying about Song, but I do feel we still need him. Oxford was class yesterday, but relying on a 16 year old for an entire season COULD be a mistake (not knocking the kid at all he was amazing BUT massive responsibility for such a young kid). If hes going to play CDM who better to learn from than Song?

Hernandez is key for me. Get him and we have a very very good squad and theres an exciting season ahead. If not him then Austin. Just not some unknown south american please.
