DG’s surprise man of the match

|

ObiangDavid Gold has put forward a surprising name as his man of the match against Wolves.

Whilst The Sun impossibly opted for Nikica Jelavic as their choice, DG came up with an infinitely more realistic if unconsidered choice.

Speaking exclusively to ClaretandHugh the co chairman declared: ” I thought Pedro Obiang was terrific all afternoon. He was always looking to make things happened, passed the ball forward positively and had a great completion.

“We weren’t at our best and it was a dour old affair but we got the job done and that’s really all that matters at this point in the FA Cup. Pedro kept going through out and I really think he deserved to pick up the award.”

DG is looking forward to tomorrow night’s draw and said: ‘I’d be happy to get Eastleigh or Bolton at the Boleyn and then we’ll move on all the way to Wembley and meet my old mate Barry Fry’s Posh at Wembley where of course our youngster Martin Samuelsen will not be allowed to play!”

Not such a surprise. Some people who were at the game have said the same thing.

Well I was at the game and it wouldn’t be such a bad call – Randolph had one shot to deal with, Collins did ok, Reid looked rusty, Jenkinson disappointed again, Cresswell didn’t show much, Song was disappointing, Noble did nothing, Zarate flashy but ineffective, Jelavic invisible apart from the goal of course, Antonio huffed and puffed – and then the replacements – Payet looked class, Carroll looked fit and lively – that’s it I think – I agree Obiang MOM by a mile!

    Poor game though!

I was at the game Hugh and sat just behind the Press boys, I think the Sun man left early, as did a few others, and when he heard it was Jelly who scored he thought he better put him as MOM cos the other lot were crap apart from the subs of course.
Only reason I can come up with cos Jelly was absolutely useless, except for the goal, tell Slavan to get rid cos he is more of a joke than Carlton was last year. COYI

The happy brigade are here as usual, another game without defeat and a clean sheet with Jenkinson on the pitch,
Gave our best players a good break and the double is still on,
Spuds just got a lucky Pen wonder how much the ref was on for them not to loose,
Obiang will grow as a player just needs playing time alongside Kouate,
Jelavic did what forwards do so no complaints from me maybe with some good service he may play better,
Still only 4 defeats in the league, still in the cup but anytime now we will cave in
    NOT A CHANCE COYI

It’s not being negative, it’s being realistic – it was a poor game!

Wolves didn’t show much but were awkward to beat – until the introduction of Payet and Carroll and the improvement in quality you couldn’t really say who was the Premiership or Championship team!

Obiang is a good call !
Can’t believe the ref just gave spuds a penalty even though he couldn’t see it !
What a sneaky little shi£e rose is,

Obiang by a mile. Spuds pen an absolute joke.Lad had no idea where the ball was. ref could not not have seen .But no recourse for Leister. just hope they win the replay. If not gis Spuds next round.Their luck must have run out by now. COYI X

Spuds had a lucky penalty goal against us last season too, maybe Levy is spying on their private lives and buying them off 😉 ? Obiang looks quality, I am surprised he has not had more game time, he just needs match practice to sharpen up then hopefully like Antonio he will secure a place, he is also another goal scoring midfielder with a huge engine, I would be surprised to see him turn into a Viera type player for us, he has that same elegance about him that’s for sure.

I was at the match too and Obiang looked head and shoulders above the rest. Jenkinson looked as though he’d rather be anywhere else but on the pitch although I didn’t think he had a terrible game and had one terrific shot on goal. Pity it didn’t go in for him as it might have lifted his confidence a bit. Noble didn’t have a great game, but apparently was having some slight hamstring problems. I was quite surprised to hear Winston Reid announced as MOM as I thought Obiang was a really obvious choice. I hope he starts getting more game time as he looks better each time I see him play.
