Diafra Sakho scores again

|

sak1West Ham striker Diafra Sakho scored as Senegal secured a 2-0 victory in South Africa to book their place at next summer’s FIFA World Cup in Russia. The Hammer opened the scoring in Polokwane on 12 minutes with an own goal from Thamsanqa Mkhize making it 2-0 before half time.

Fellow Hammers Cheikhou Kouyate played 86 minutes of the qualifier, and Senegal will now have the benefit of going into Tuesday’s return fixture against the Bafana Bafana knowing their ticket to Russia has been booked.

It is no secret that Slav and Sakho did not get on but Moyes has assured everyone in his squad that they get a new start under his managership.

The Senegal striker has previously said on record he wants to leave for France in Januray but it remains to be seen whether he will change his mind if he gets a fresh chance under Moyes.

Also congrats to Kouyate & Sahko for qualifying for World Cup for 1st time since 2002 w Senegal.
Sahko as I’ve said don’t agree w his antics & actions tho could say the Italy issue was def 2 sides to the story since then has said still wants to leave in Jan even tho he makes extra £15k just to be on bench & £30k to play 10m but I think he wants to play… And like Sean said everyone knew him & Slav didn’t get on.
But will having Moyes come in make him want to stay? He is really the most rounded striker we have. He has talent scores for us score for Senegal at least last 2 maybe 3 times. He can run channels get in behind. Most of is think him & Chicharito would make a good front 2 I hope Chic didn’t pull a Hammie. Bc worry about him being out from Moyes start & he is a class finisher.
Sahko is someone I would play just based on ability & w Mercanries these days. Moyes might fancy him & get the best out of him & will he want to stay then & will Fans be fine with it…. I would if results show it & he wants to stay w Moyes in

I have been a strong supporter of Diafra Sakho since he joined our club.
To watch Sakho and Enner Valencia playing together, was so exciting and pleasing.

I think that David Moyes, may (just may) be able to have a good chat with Diafra and re-enforce his belief in him as a player and as a person. Moyes has already begun the process of improving his relationship with Chicharito. No doubt, Arnautovic will receive some much needed mentoring.
If Moyes and staff (together with team-mate Kouyate) can reach the inner sanctum of Sakho’s inner thoughts, and convince him that he is a decent bloke and a real asset to West Ham, then we may once again see he best of this talented striker!

Reply to JRS (the ‘reply machine’ did a double posting of my original reply to JRS-ha!)
I agree with your sentiments relating to Sakho and Chicharito having the potential to be our best twin strikers. Sakho has quite god tactical vision, and indeed, will explore the slightest of spaces/holes in the field. When these spaces pop-up, he will have no hesitation in exploring them, and in doing so, get the ball closer to the opposition’s penalty area. I have no doubt that Moyes will work on Sakho’s fitness and speed, so he can perform this ‘exploratory role’ for the entire 90 minutes. Once Chicharito senses an impending forward run from Sakho, he will position himself in the best position to make the best of a potential pass. If this small, but important tactic/strategy can evolve, the goals will start coming on a more regular basis. No need for the long-hoof; just some clever running, and a bit of ‘carpet football’, and bang!
