Diop puts two fingers up to the speculation

Issa Diop has made it perfectly clear he has no interest whatsoever in any speculation surrounding his future and is thus completely happy at West Ham.

The Frenchman had been out of favour over a few games but that didn’t stopped plenty of rumour mongering over his future going on.

According to the less well informed media he is wanted by both Chelsea and Manchester United with various prices of £40 million and £50 million being mentioned.

The reality is there has been no bid or approach. That doesn’t mean there won’t be but Diop – always a straight talking individual – isn’t going to waste time thinking about it.

Most of the loose media chat is based on Jose Mourinho’s comments when he was manager of the United team that was well beaten by the Irons last season.

He called him a “monster” defender and wondered publicly how his Old Trafford scouts had not picked up on him while he was in France.

Diop – speaking to Foot Mercato, via Metro made it clear he remained unfazed by it all saying: “I am not in negotiations, I don’t care to know which clubs are interested in me. So for me, nothing really changes,” .

Most of the time, it is friends of mine sending me screenshots to say to me: ‘Issa, look…’ I am not even the person who finds out first.

“Aside from that, that is the game of the transfer window, some things are true, some things are false. So honestly, I don’t pay too much attention to it.

“Honestly, I don’t really give a s*** about what is in the newspapers. I am not at all concentrated on that. It doesn’t enter my thinking at all.

“I leave people who are responsible to deal with that side. I just focus on football.”
