Issa Diop has become a Hammer within the last hour on a five year contract worth around £70k.
The giant defender has become the third signing of the window although his and goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski’s switch to the London Stadium haven’t yet been officially announced.
However that is due to happen on the official website over the next couple of days and it means that thus far the Hammers have spent £30 million of their transfer budget on players and another £7 million in agents fees.
Reports right across the Premier League is that agents are asking for a growing slice of the action before taking their players to clubs and we understand the Hammers are being forced to cough up.
However, co chairman David Sullivan has now landed three players wanted by the manager with Diop a priority.
And despite also having Angeelo Ogbonna, Winston Reid and Declan Rice available, he still wants Alfie Mawson as he builds towards the new season.
And we understand Pellegrini is also keen to bring in two more creative midfield players before the season starts with Felipe Anderson still being hunted.
Excellent news, especially when you consider that we still have £10-15mill remaining from last seasons profits, plus whatever we can get for those Manny wants to get rid of. Possibly another £40 mill in total, plus whatever the board stumps up?
Your right mm and if you remember another 20 mil that we didn’t spend on za za they think we forget about these things …they certainly have more than 75 that’s for sure
I don’t think we’ll see any of that extra cash that we made available from player sales. I reckon Sully has said you can have 75mil full stop. I’d like to be proven wrong by the board but we’ll see come the end of the window!!
Great signing. Now for more. Perhaps he can teach Oxford how to behave, when it comes to working on improving his game.
I’d love to see the Oxford who made his debut vs Arsenal back in the squad, but have a feeling we may have seen the last of him at West Ham. Hope I’m wrong.
I feel the same. I hope I’m wrong too.
Bit worrying we aren’t being linked to any high energy box to box midfielders. Or any defensive mids.
What is good about this deal is that the time interval between first story of our interest and confirmation of signing was relatively short – hopefully we can now do something similar with a midfielder or two as requested by master
I don’t think that’s the main priority at the moment for Pellegrini. Especially after the Lanzini injury and considering Pellegrini’s plan to move rice into a DM position
