Don’t look back in anger – not this high summer

|

Not being able to let go of past hurts, bitterness and vendettas is always a sad sight to behold!

When Oasis sung ‘Don’t look back in Anger‘ they couldn’t have got it more right! Most Irons right now it seems are following the same theme.

Watching people screw themselves into a hinterland of hatred and anger affects nobody but themselves and is usually a  soul-destroying exercise for any individual.

I feel for such people because thankfully, although I have never been in such a place, I have seen many who have and it truly is a horribly unattractive sight.

That’s why this summer, after last season, has been such a pleasure! The incredible weather – please don’t tell me it’s too hot – has only been bettered by being a Hammer.

Just for once we are in the headlines for all the right reasons and in my many years supporting this club I have never been carried along on such a tidal wave of excitement and optimism.

Ok, there are always a few standing on the sidelines throwing the odd brick at anything ‘da club’ does or does not do and of course at its supporters.

That’s ok…if tolerance of different points of view isn’t part of their psyche, their problem.

But this summer has seen a world class manager arrive and our hopes are very real for this is a  bloke who has never failed anywhere.

And the likes of Anderson at nearly €50 million,Issa Diop at £21 million plus Wilshere and Yarmolenka gives reason for huge celebration and optimism.

Things change, people change, views change and attitudes change and that’s fine. If it all goes pear-shaped we can prepare for  the moans and groans again.

But for now the peace and quiet is beautiful which like the weather is only slightly disturbed by the faintest rumble of thunder from a way off!

Time to enjoy being an Iron!

Well said Hugh. I have spent a lot of the last two seasons grinding my teeth over the owners, but now is the time to look forward in hope- maybe even with optimism. My philosophy Is that life & other people will give you enough burdens, so why choose to carry grudges around?

It’s only over the weather that I would take issue with you. Sorry but it is too hot! This is weather for those sports that fill in while the footballers have a rest-cricket, tennis & those school sports day events going on at the LS. Can’t wait for a few downpours & 25 degrees off the temperature. Then it will be time for the real thing again. Can’t wait.

  • It’s too ‘ot 🙂
