One player who was reportedly linked with a move to West Ham United during the summer transfer window was Brighton & Hove Albion winger Amario Cozier-Duberry.

The 21-year-old joined Middlesbrough on a season-long loan after signing a new three-year contract with the Seagulls earlier this summer.

Cozier-Duberry has made an impressive start to life at the Riverside Stadium, registering three goals and five assists in just ten league appearances.

West Ham strengthened their wide options following the departure of Crysencio Summerville, bringing in Edvin Austbø and Manor Solomon. However, as Claret & Hugh can exclusively reveal, reports suggesting the Hammers submitted either a loan or permanent offer for Cozier-Duberry were inaccurate.

When approached for clarification, a trusted transfer source provided a brief but unequivocal response: “Not true.”

West Ham settled on Austbø – and appear to have done pretty well by signing the up and coming young winger

The winger attracted interest from several clubs during the summer, including Rangers, as uncertainty surrounded his future at Brighton following the club’s reported £21 million investment in Zadock Yohanna.

Before joining Middlesbrough, Cozier-Duberry enjoyed an outstanding loan spell with Bolton Wanderers in League One last season. He scored 11 goals and contributed 13 assists, underlining his reputation as one of the country’s most promising young attacking talents.

At West Ham, Manor Solomon has experienced a mixed start to his spell in east London, while Austbø has already chipped in with two goals and two assists despite largely being used as a substitute.

It will be fascinating to see how Cozier-Duberry’s loan campaign at Middlesbrough develops over the course of the season. However, any suggestion that he was close to wearing a claret-and-blue shirt appears to be wide of the mark.

It’ should be obvious to any one in football with half a brain…the whole problem at west ham is the scatter brain efforts at recruitment .. blame who you like but over the last few seasons good money has been spent with little or no return… I just wish who ever manages or recruits for us would go back to basics….if you go back and look at every good or record breaking team they all had a good keeper and two out standing fullbacks ..even go back to 1966 Banks Cohen Wilson….and what are we doing we are trying to sign strikers midfielders wingers in the meantime we are trying to compete with a duff keeper and 2 out of work central defenders as fullbacks….

Austbo (left wing) and Cozier-Duberry (plays across front who could cover Bowen) they were both needed.
