Fab sends squad a “winnable” warning

|

Lukasz Fabianski has warned the Hammers there is no such thing as a “winnable” game in the Premier League and that we must be on our guard at Newcastle this weekend.

The same advice is of course coming from the manager and Issa Diop regularly and recent events have shown it’s a message which needs to be absorbed by every player in the squad.

Newcastle – after a particularly poor start to the campaign – have claimed out of the relegation zone and are sitting just three points behind the Hammers in 15th place.

However, they could have joined us by later tonight should they beat Burnley at Turf Moor and that’s not impossible  after winning their last two home games against Watford and Birmingham.

Fabianski had no chance with any of the goals fired home by Manchester City and is right to believe that we should approach in the man against the Geordies in exactly the same way at the weekend.

He said: ““There are no ‘winnnable games’ in the Premier League. I don’t like that phrase as well. I think you just have to go for it.

“I don’t like approaching the games in a different way. I prefer personally to have a go in every single game and approach them all in the same way, be focused and do what the manager expects from you.

“I think we have a quality group of players and I think even on Saturday we showed that we’re a threat to every team in the league.

“You’ve got 38 games in the season and every game is there to go for. I don’t think we approached the previous games in a different way and we look at the schedule and now it’s time to go. Every game is there for us to try and get the max out of it.”
