It was easy to see why David Moyes is a Fornals fan at lunchtime.
Very often the Spaniard appears to do much running and expend loads of energy to little effect but it all came together for him today and I reckon he had his best ever game for us.
Whilst Jesse Lingard’s surging runs from deeper caught the eye Pablo was finding space and his men in tight spaces within a very decent Manchester City defence.
Beyond that, his hold up play was excellent and for the first time, my eyes were regularly drawn to the 25-year-old who along with Declan was my man of the match this afternoon.
Declan, of course, is just one of those extraordinary players who comes along once or twice in a lifetime and was at his best this afternoon when we needed him most.
Tomas Soucek was amazing and will we ever be able to get over the fact we played just £5 million for the amazing Vlad Coufal.
As Ray Stewart put it so perfectly: “We were always gonna find out how good we are today and we showed we are a very, very good team indeed.”
Yes Hugh totally agree he had a good and effective game today, against the very best. He has always worked very hard, but sometimes to no end product, and a bit light in front of goal. Today, really efficient and seemed to enjoy the role behind Jesse. We were a mighty fine team today all right!
Yes fornals was good. Don’t believe it was his best game though. Was much better in the earlier part of the season when he was popping up with goals and assists much more.
My opinion of Pablo hasn’t changed from day one. He is a fantastic footballer who as well as being blessed with ability, leaves everything on the pitch. That is a very rare trait in a player of his ability and one of Pellegrini’s best purchases for this club. Pablo has much more to give and it won’t be long before teams are sitting up and taking notice of him as he’s travelling under the radar at the moment.
100% agree, thought Fornals was excellent, my West Ham MOTM.
Yet there are some supporters who week in week out give him a hard time. He is an absolute gem and a player whose approach and hunger shown in each game is incredible. Moyes needs to get Benrahma into the team with Antonio, Fornals and Lindgard.
