Fans react to Noble’s “why support us” comment

|

Mark Noble has spoken out about the team’s attitude to the current slump and how much they care and how much he wants the fans to get right behind the team.

He said: “If you can’t support the team through times like this, why support us at all?”

Here’s how some of ClaretandHugh’s Facebook members reacted to the captain’s remarks:

NobleO Agree with what he’s said, but question the timing. Makes it sound as though he’s turning it back on to the fans. Come on, Noble, pull your socks up and give the fans something to shout about! The real fans will be there whether having a good or bad season.
O Mark Noble has had a pretty poor start to the season as have most of the team, as for the fans we have supported them in serious bad times and we will keep supporting them no matter what.
O Needs to start with the man in the mirror!
O All fair comments. Decent bloke. Team just needs to deliver now. I think too many people believed the MOTD hype last year.
O Totally agree with what Nobes has said. If you take what he has said in the correct context then he is right. He is after-all saying it as a fan too!

O I question where our club would be if some of the ‘new breed’ of fans had been around in the truly bad times! They don’t know the half of it!

O Not necessarily the best comment for some to hear but I do agree with him. The only issue I have is that although we are fans and should support the team, I don’t agree with blind faith in ANY respect.

O Broadly agree with everything he’s said. It comes across as a bit sour grapes though. Support is a two way street though and I can think of plenty of occasions where three  thousand of us have spent a day and a fair chunk of our disposable income and gone north and see us get drubbed, it has then been too much trouble for the players to acknowledge our support.

I am not sure about the comment where people believed the MOTD hype, when have we recently had anything but begrudging support from anyone on that show, whoever is in charge of how games and comments are presented on that show has had the axe out for us ever since Tevez wouldn’t be surprised to find they are Sheffield UTD or Spuds fans, screw MOTD and the BBC as for Noble’s comments they come as a West Ham fan first, he is entitled to make them but the players haven’t done enough as he admits and that needs to stop, they have to give us something to get behind which they haven’t done much, more like Dimi says together we are stronger !

Well i suppose the MOTD Hype man could have been even more shot away & said we shouldnt have believed the Mark Lawrenson hype of last year.I wonder sometimes what shows i watch that other fans watch. Is it a different version in every region LOL

Noble should take a good look at himself . He has been truely awful in every game . He should accept that his legs have gone and can no longer hide his lack of ability behind 110% effort . He can offer no support to fast breakaways by us or the opposition who just run past him . Time for new , young blood .

It’s not true that his legs have gone – he’s never had any pace to lose – what is true is that he’s had a truly terrible start to the Season, along with several others, as well as a shockingly bad Transfer Window.

What’s got a lot of people’s backs up is a percieved lack of effort, which is backed up by statistics – so Noble had better put his own house in order before he criticises the punters for expressing their frustrations.
