The bookies favourite for David Moyes job has rejected Ajax
Graham Potter, a potential successor to David Moyes at West Ham, has reportedly declined an offer to manage Ajax. This development intensifies speculation about his potential move to the London Stadium.
My feelings about Potter are mixed. He undoubtedly excelled at Brighton Hove Albion, though that success also involved the club’s ownership and former director of football, Dan Ashworth.
Complicating matters, Ashworth, now with Manchester United after a stint at Newcastle United, was spotted in a secret meeting with Potter last month. This sparked rumours that Potter might be in the running for the Manchester United job.
Potter, who was dismissed from Chelsea in April 2023, is a leading candidate for the Old Trafford role, should there be a change. He and Ashworth have a history of collaboration at Brighton.
Potter’s recent rejection of Ajax hints at other possibilities for his career. Given the rumours that West Ham is seeking Moyes’ replacement, Potter joining the Hammers could be on the cards.
