Josh Cullen has extended his loan to Charlton Athletic until the end of the season and is determined to do all he can to keep the south Londoners in Championship.
The Addicks are currently in the bottom three and facing a serious battlet o not make an immediate return to league One but midfielder Cullen is more than ready to play his part.
Injury has intervened at one point but the 24 year old has agreed a year’s extension with the Irons whilst at the new Valley and it remains to be seen where the manager David Moyes sees his future.
The Hammers will be fighting to avoid relegation when they kick off next weekend and it will be interesting to see whether he decides to offer the long term Hammer a further improvement on his deal.
He has played 26 games for the Charlton first team this season having been sidelined from November until January with a torn ankle ligament.
Speaking to the Charlton website he said: “It’s strange, there was never a massive decision to make. I knew that as long as the season did get finished, I’d be finishing it with Charlton.
It’s been a long journey since my loan last season. We weren’t fancied for promotion by many and we did it. Now it’s my job to do the best I can to help us stay in the league.
“I’ve enjoyed my time at Charlton, loved every minute of it.I feel like I owe it to the people at the club; the fans that backed me from day one and been brilliant, the manager and the staff, everyone around the club – the lads are all fighting for the same goal. I’m looking forward to get started again and finish what we started together.”
