CandH Exclusive: Flynn Downes update

Flynn Downes update

West Ham have given a Flynn Downes update and are now ready to sell the midfielder this summer such is the wealth of talent in the Hammers midfield. The former Swansea and Ipswich player joined the Hammers in 2022 for £12 million but was used to exploit the signing of James Ward-Prowse from Southampton.

Flynn Downes update

However, there is no certainty that he will return to the Hammers in the summer and it remains to be seen whether the high flying south coast side keep him at the club or whether  others come in for the 25 year old where he has made 25 appearances for just one goal.

It’s another Hammers signing which has a question mark over it and as things stand it remains to be seen whether David Moyes will be tempted to bring him back although it current looks unlikely. With Lucas Paqueta, Tomas Soucek, JWP, Mo Kudus and Edson Alvarez available to him, the Brentwood-born Hammers-supporting Downes looks very much surplus to requirements.

Our main Hammers source at the London Stadium is unsure where he will end up but have little reason to believe that the player would be returning to the club.

He told Claret and Hugh exclusively: “Who know what will happen? It depends entirely on who bids for him  because he’s involved in a position we don’t need at this point.”
