Former Leicester City defender on Hammers trial

|

Former Leceister City Academy defender George Heaven is having trials with West Ham and paired up with Reece Oxford last night in the centre of defence for the full ninety minutes in the Hammers U23’s pre-season match against Dagenham and Redbridge which resulted in a goalless draw.

The 19-year-old Centre Back who can also play at Right back was released from Leciester’s academy this summer.

The 6 foot 3 youngster made 37 appearances for Leceister’s U18 team scoring three goals and two appearances for their Premier League 2 (U23) team.

The Leicester born player is now looking for a new club as a free agent and hoping that West Ham could take him on their books.

His agents Major League Sports describe him on their website as  “a highly regarded, academy product from Leicester City. With the ability to play in a number of positions, the Ex-Premier League champions have utilised Heaven’s versatility. Primarily playing either side of a two, the 6’3″ defender has also played a number of games at right back.”

The rest of the West Ham U23 lined up as: Anang, Ngakia (Belic 70), Heaven, Oxford (Hannam 70), Alese, Kemp, Lewis (Rosa 63), Coventry, Powell, Holland, Afolayan (Longelo 70)  Subs not used:  Hegyi

It was the first game in charge for West Ham U23’s new head coach Dmitri Halajko who was the former head of Player Development for Under-9s to Under-23s at Leicester City so one would think he would know Heaven’s ability pretty well.
