Frankie Mac’s Carroll worries

|

SupermacFrank MacAvennie has made it clear that West Ham will need to buy a top striker in the summer given Andy Carroll’s ongoing injury problems.

The Hammers legend is bitterly upset for AC that just as he finds his best form he has fallen foul to injury again in what appears to be an endless cycle of problems.

Speaking exclusively to ClaretandHugh Supermac said: “I’ve been there and know what it’s like trying to come back after these injuries. It’s really difficult and I do think the club will need to invest heavily in a top striker this summer.

Andy has had these problems now for three years. You want to see him get a run of games but his body has taken something of a hammering and it’s hard – very hard.

Andy Carroll“At his best he’s still a great player and I had no doubt that he would fit into a Bilic side but the injuries are a problem and so they have to go out and get another top striker into the club.

“Andy still has a part to play but it’s all about staying fit and you need a striker who scores goals and stays injury free.”

Wilson of Bournemouth would be my first choice,
If Swansea go down Gomis would be good cover for Sakho
Remy if he becomes available fits the bill
Ayew of Swansea could be an assist
    Nada at Villa
    Nada at Sunderland,Nada at Newcastle
Not much out there that would improve our side that we can afford

Bubs I seem to remember Ayew chose Swansea over us at start of the season.I’m not as forgiving as you.Ha ha.Good player all the same.

I don’t see the reasoning here. Seeing as Andy has never been a top striker for us yet we are in the top five, how is his presence so critical that we have to replace him?
We have Sakho ready to return followed by Lanzini, who, whilst not considered an out and out striker, is a constant threat in attack
Fact is, Slav built his team around an attacking, goal scoring midfield and we are seeing the results of that strategy, with Payet back, Valencia hitting his stride and the aforementioned two on their way.
Buy a good striker if one becomes available at a decent price by all means but don’t claim we have to do it to replace Carroll
