Furious fans slam Holmes WHUFC comments

|

HolmesManchester United Sky TV presenter Eamonn Holmes has been heavily criticised after comparing West Ham fans’ attack on the Manchester United team bus to Hillsborough.

Speaking about the behaviour of some West Ham fans, Holmes said: “Now this is going back to the 70s and to the 80s to everything you were seeing that was bad about Hillsborough for instance.”

But seething fans immediately called on the 56-year-old to apologise for his comments, report the Liverpool Echo.

Fans have long campaigned for the disaster not to be associated in any way with hooliganism and viewers were furious on social media.

Twitter user H K Fooey wrote: “Just heard you equate the bus riot last night to Hillsborough. Very poor analogy. Have you forgotten the inquests already?”

Peter Rice tweeted the presenter and said: “Apologise now for your Hillsborough comment re WHU incident.”

Alan Carter wrote: “Hillsborough had nothing to do with hooliganism, stop associating last night with this tragedy.”

Mikey Stones posted a video clip of the comments and wrote: “Why after 27 years of proving it, have you just compared what happened at Hillsborough to hooliganism?”

Perhaps Mr Holmes should also reflect on video footage now appearing on social media of a similar ‘attack’ by so called United fans on a Man City bus. Let he who is without sin….

How a Manure fan can get the Bindipper fans to go mad in one easy lesson.Well thought out Holmes. He is in for a rough ride now for a few days.Serves him right making idiotic comments like that.

I can’t stand the idiot, he’s a pretty useless presenter too.
The only similarities were yet again the useless failure of the police.
Apparently on eleven occasions this season the opposition bus has been attacked at various grounds……did you see those being reported? Me neither.

    Can’t stand the fat f£!k.
He should stick to what he knows best which, judging by his ever increasing waistline, appears to involve cramming copious amounts of doughnuts and cream horns down his Gregory.
A muppet of the first order!

Although it is terrible what happened and most of us who regularly went to matches in late 70’s / 80’s would have remembered similar scenes and much much worse, why when knowing all the supporters would be charged emotionally for our most important game were they not there many hours earlier as suggested by DS ? I am not condoning the actions of the bottle throwers but the situation could and should have been avoided.

Amen – it isn’t as if people weren’t aware that this wasn’t going to be any ordinary midweek league game. If our boys were able to get there in good time, surely it shouldn’t be beyond the wit of people working for Manchester United to suggest “as there’s likely to be a bit of congestion, perhaps we should aim to get there a bit early?”. Except that clearly it is beyond them.

  • GW says:

Moronic comments by a moron who just can’t help but have a pathetic view on Hillsborough from behind his rose tinted Man Utd glasses even after the enquiries . ****.

  • bubs says:

Start the 20 year inquiry now,
The result ps will be the same bad Police planning,
    Bad crowd control,
Stupid remarks by the real morons in the world,
How do these idiots get jobs in the first place it’s not like he has a nice voice or is eye candy
Can’t be his charisma, who is his dad ?
I know hard question and not many takers
