Ginge gets ‘meet and greet’ invite

|

West Ham are ready to offer James Collins a “meet and greet ” job at the club as they bid to heal any issues he may have felt over his departure from the club.

They are making several conciliatory moves in his direction after he complained of his seemingly abrupt exit from the club.

Ginge explained on a BBC Wales radio broadcast that his only gripe with West Ham was he didn’t have a chance to say goodbye to the staff at the training ground and to fans.

When Collins’ contract ended in the summer of 2018 everyone was away on their holidays so he didn’t get an opportunity to say goodbye as there were no staff at Rush Green at that time.

Manuel Pellegrini later gave him the opportunity to train with the Hammers so he did have an opportunity to meet up with staff and say his goodbyes.

And last week an insider explained to Claret and Hugh that he and his family have been invited back to West Ham as VIP guests in a top corporate hospitality lounge at the London Stadium and that he will get the chance to speak to the fans at half time pitch side if he still wants to give us a specific farewell.

There have been suggestions on other sites this morning that the club were considering offering him a ambassadorial role but an insider cleared that up with us by e-mail.

He explained: “No former players have a full time role in that area or anywhere else.

“However, we do have former favourites on a match to match basis to meet and greet corporate season ticket holders in the lounges and James would beĀ  most welcome to do that for us.”

Ginge was an outstanding servant to our club during his time with us. He always gave his all and his service should be recognised by the all at the club
