Young Hammer Nathan Trott has amazingly has come out as the top shot stopper in the four English divisions.
The keeper has been considered a top prospect at the Hammers for a very long time but to reach such a level so quickly into his career is an extraordinary achievement.
And given the problems we have had between the sticks this season it’s great to know that we have a young man more than capable, seemingly, of becoming our number one over the next couple of years or so.
He has had a very good spell indeed while being out on loan to Wimbledon AFC, because according playerstats.com, the world’s largest football database, he has managed to stop 93 shots in the first half of the season, which makes him top man in any of the top four English leagues.
With Fabianski only just recovering from injury, Trott’s stats make you wonder if our extremely poor run of form could have been prevented if we hadn’t sent him out on loan.
Many have called for our better under 23 players to be given their chance earlier at the Hammers and Nathan appears to be proving the point.
Nathan will be returning to the Hammers in May.
I just hope he won’t be locked out by the seniors
