Gold explains why we didn’t “kidnap” Bacca

|

West-Ham-United-co-owner-David-GoldDavid Gold has produced another classic put down of a fan attempting to give him a hard time on Twitter.

As the discontent contines to rumble on over summer signings, Gold made it clear why the club was unable to sign Carlos Bacca.

And he used a colourful explanation of why that was the case.

He was told by one follower the club “could of (have) had Bacca” to which he replied: “Bacca wouldn’t come for love nor money and the only other option was to kidnap him which of course is illegal. dg.

He then turned to another who tweeted: “Love to know why you signed so many mediocre talentless players this Summer – big new stadium yet lack of investment.”

Managing to retain his cool, the co chairman said: “Graham for your information we were the 8th biggest spenders in the PL we also broke our transfer record with the signing of Ayew. dg

We should have bought quality rather than quantity.Having said that the club were in a bit of a quandary, with the lack of numbers for a sustained Europa cup run.In hindsight a few decent players with prem experience would have been the preferable option. COYI

Well the one about rubbish signings you can dismiss because its from one of the loud mouths on WHTID who is now preening his feathers in pride that he sent it.What a hero he must be now.

To be honest regardless of if you love or hate the owners the first tweet is correct if he didnt want to come he didn’t want to and believe the owners were more than fair with him govong him time to have a think ( do reckon they gave him to long )
But the second just because we spent what we dod and was the 8th spenders or what ever the players we brought are crap apart from the youth who i believe we have done amazing being able to poach them the likes of nordveit is rubbish tore was a billic buy and reckon he may become bit better and zaza was a panic buy the owners f***d up this window but then last year we had an amazing one and it wont be replicated year after year there were better people we could of gone for but because we went media mad every other team and agent saw that and hicked up the price hopefully next season we will buy sensible stop the basment buys and over the top media abd keep quiet and get players who upgrade us even if its one or two players we would rather quality over quantity

There’s no point in arguing with David Gold about how much the Club has spent, it’s whether it’s been spent wisely that’s the real question.

To start with a positive note, there’s been an investment in the future with the acquistion of some young players with potential but are not really ready for the First Team yet – I’d put Fletcher, Quina, Martinez and Fernandes in this class, they’ll possibly get the odd game but are essentially an investment for future Seasons – you can’t argue with that!

Then you move onto older more established players who should in theory be ready for First Team football – Nordtveit started ok but his form has fallen and he’s gone off lame. Ayew, the big investment, hasn’t kicked a ball in anger and another to go off lame. He’s come from Swansea with a good reputation and has been unlucky. Masuaku came after Cresswell had been injured and started quite well, he had a nightmare against West Brom and has been another to pull up lame. Arbeloa came on a free at the end of the Window when the right-back position became a real problem, he’s taken a while to get fit but looks likely to be a good signing.

There has been a large investment in Loan signings and quite frankly they’ve all been useless – Tore, Zaza and Calleri do not look up to the Premier League at all!!

I get a feeling of deja vu in writing this, we just seem to be going over the same ground over and over again – the Club have spent money but the promised ‘Marquee’ signing never arrived and what has arrived has been disappointing, there’s been some bad luck with injuries but that’s just part of the game.

All in all a very poor Transfer Window – no improvement in the quality of the Squad, in fact with the injuries to Cresswell and Carroll the Team quality is a lot worse.
