Gold looks for winning return after illness

|

GoldDavid Gold is hoping the Irons welcome him back to the director’s box with a Sunday afternoon victory.

The joint chairman has been laid up with a mid winter bug and has missed the Everton, Newcastle and West Brom games on doctor’s orders.

But all being well the boss will be back in his position for the clash with the Welsh outfit and a victory would be a very welcome tonic.

He told ClaretandHugh “We have players on the way back and the victory at West Brom showed the sort of stuff this team is made of. It’s also brilliant to hear the fans discussing the different options we may have available.

“It’s a long long time since the club has been in this position and with players on the way back we can look forward to this game and keep things going.

“It’s the oldest cliche in the game that if you can win when not playing at anywhere near your best things look good. That was us on Tuesday night.

“Hopefully we’ll have our players back and the manager will have plenty of options and that makes me hopeful I’ll be making a return to”duty” with a victory.

“Garry Monk has done a fine job at Swansea and they will come with confidence on the back of a decent run but we are a very good team this season aren’t we?”
