The issue of so-called ‘dual representation’ was recently discussed at the Premier League’s annual general meeting and although it is legal and widespread, the PL wants a return of the ban that was once in place.
The aim is to try and limit the fees paid to agents and is part of a wider investigation into the way the representatives operate.
The League has now set up a working group being which includes Premier League chief executives and heads of recruitment. There has also been a debate over capping agents fees which have continued to spiral.
Dual representation was illegal in England but that was reversed when Fifa deregulated the way agents operate in 2015.
It is estimated that the same agent acts for the club and the player in around two-thirds of transfers and also contract negotiations.
Always although most players are noted as not having a brain wondered why with so much time spare as well they can’t sit down themselves and get a deal for wages like you me and workers can do, on way lower wages of course. So the need of agents sprung up also due to laziness rather be out on a golf course or on holiday after training than spend some hours a year on talking to the owners or coaches about thier wages. Greed is certainly in thier heads now and these obscene wages and agents need to stop. We need a complete ban on agents and can be done very easily before we have just an elite few clubs with just all the cash and all the best players in a small league charging fans who are rich enough to be able to buy the tickets. Working class game now the game for the rich only on it’s way unless we all get back to basics imo
Very well said Razor – it’s disgusting
Wherever there’s big money involved criminals will find a way to infiltrate to exploit, and my view on agents is they are legal criminals the way things stand.COYI
