Guest Ratings expert on the Irons case at Leicester

|
ClaretandHugh Facebook Group member Sergey Novysh is our guest ratings man – here he hands out his marks for today’s Hammers performances at Leicester.
Fabianski: Near-perfect performance, absolutely no chance with the goal. 9
Zabaleta: Rode his luck a little with a possible second yellow card, but had a decent game overall. Never ran out of steam.  8
Balbuena: Been superb defensively, scored his first goal for the club. Got extremely unlucky with that “backside” rebound. 9
Diop: You just need to count number of offsides conceded by the opposition (It’s 7 btw) to understand how good Diop-Balbuena partnership is. Another decent performance. 9
Masuaku: Good game overall, but he needs to learn to clear the ball from the dangerous areas immediately instead of juggle with it. 8
Rice: Man of the match performance. He was everywhere constantly pressing and winning the ball. 9
Diangana: Great game by the young lad! Made one really bad mistake defensively, but was excellent apart from that – pace, energy, desire, quick-thinking – he’s definitely took his chance to impress! 8
Noble: Lost for words.. But we’ve seen it before, haven’t we? Skipper had a good solid game before that stupid foul and a deserved red card. He let the team down for sure, but Mark will be the first person to realize his mistake and come back stronger and more determined than ever to help Hammers climb the table. No rating
Snodgrass: Another MoTM contender for me. Good positive attacking performance during first half and a great defensive display in the second. It was a joy to watch Snoddy ran his socks off in the dying minutes of the game to help Zaba. 9
Anderson: Some people blame Felipe for lack of effort, but he did pretty well today. Quality is there for sure, but he tries to be a little bit too clever from time to time. After Nobes sending off, he did surprisingly well defensively. 8
Hernandez
Didn’t have any chances to score really, but helped the team pretty well by controlling the ball well, and pressing the opposition. 7
SUBS
Antonio
Could have won us all three points with one his famous solo runs. Made the opposition play more defensively, showed pace and desire. That is Michail Antonio we all know and love. 8
Cresswell
Did OK. No silly mistakes. 7
Ogbonna
Wasted two glorious opportunities in the end! But, hey, Oggy is a central defender, not a striker after all! 7
Pelle
Decent set-up and game plan, well-timed and smart substitutions, improving performances with each game played, youngsters in the starting 11! Gotta give Pelle all the credit, we should’ve won today if not for bad luck. 10

Fair ratings. I thought Hernandez was an 8 just for occupying their defence.

Yes I thought we were excellent Leicester played well, we were magnificent defensively, the one thing I would say is that we will probably finish mid table so if we can get all our bad luck out of the way this season and be safe, build again for next season COYI!!!

  • Carrerageorge says:

I am amazed by the score given to Anderson. He is a gifted player but his effort was unacceptable today.Around 49,51 and 73 he wasted breakaway attacks close to their area whereas Antonio created some chances through sheer effort.
    I watched the game live.

  • Wembley1980 says:

8 for Anderson!! I’m not sure you actually saw the game?!

  • blimeylimey says:

Fair rankings expect too high for Anderson and too low for Zabs, my MotM vote,
and not mention about Antonios penalty NOT given? Would have had to send off the defender and would have won the game, ranking for the ref? maybe 1 out of ten?
