Half time: Newcastle 0 West Ham 1

|

Chicharito grabbed a typical 13th minute goal to give the Hammers a thoroughly deserved lead at the interval.

The Mexican popped up all of three yards out to convert a beautiful cross from Robert Snodgrass which fell straight onto the striker’s right foot for the easiest of goals.

But the Hammers should have had more with Marko Arnautovic having a decent sight of goal with through balls from Cresswell and Anderson but simply couldn’t manouvre the ball into position.

From the Anderson pass he hurdled the keeper – clearly believing he could score when a penalty would probably have resulted had he gone to ground – that’s honesty for you.

This was probably the best first half – Man United at home accepted  – the team has put together and they always looked the more dangerous of the two sides.

Having said that Fabianski was called upon to make three or four interventions as the Geordies advanced but the Irons can be well pleased with their first half display although they really should have had another given the chances they created.
