Half Time ratings report – every Hammer marked

|

Hugh hands out his Christmas ratings

Fabianski: Excellent as we collected 11 points before his injury – says it all really 7.5

Roberto: Sorry to mention his name again 1

Martin: Didn’t let anyone down and brought some confidence back to the squad 6.5

Zaba: Five appearances at PL level – age may be catching up but he still has much to offer 6

Fredericks: Real no show this season and it’s gradually got worse 4

Diop: Started off okay but fallen away dramatically – he’ll be back though 4.5

Balbuena: Improved as quickly as Diop has fallen away – looks good at the moment 6.5

Ogbonna: Outstanding defender so far this season. Must be in the running for Hammer of the Year right now 7.5

Cresswell: Recaptured some of his better form on the back of a couple of goals. Doing ok 6.5

Masuaku: Seven appearances which includes a sending off at Villa and little to admire generally …and that defending. Dear God 3

Noble: Maybe pushes forward too much leaving Declan more exposed than is wise. Passing rate great at times and heart and endeavour commands ten out of ten but in general terms a 6.5

Rice: Overworked at times and not to the regular high standard of last season but still showing plenty of quality at times 7.5

Sanchez: Nothing to say other than he has nothing to offer 0

Wilshere: The new Andy Carroll. No impact when rarely seen 1

Lanzini: Set to return to action after injury but nothing like at his best apart from the second half at Brighton early on 5

Anderson: For me a disappointment. I really want to be impressed because he has it all in his locker. Where are the shots and the ready ability to go pass people. 5

Snodgrass: Can’t fault the enthusiasm but five yellows (four in the PL) demonstrates he’s slowing down but can still make things happen 6

Yarmolenko: Major disappointment. Lethargic to the point of  lifelessness at times. Maybe the effect of a long injury 3.5

Fornals: Starting to arrive – been rock solid in recent games 6.5

Holland: Had a couple of late starts but unfair to judge or rate in a team showing such poor form N/R

Antonio: Astonishing performances since he returned after a top start to the season 8.5

Haller: Crying out for a partner for most of the season – now he has found one looks quality again 6.5

Ajeti: Err, who? 1

Very fair ratings in my opinion. Hugh. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all at C&H and to Hammers fans everywhere. COYI

Very fair markings and remarks, the only one I disagree with is Fredericks. I think you’ve been a bit harsh on him, I like his energy, speed of course, and his enthusiasm, fair enough he’s not the most creative but his Defending is sound, I’d give him a 6.

I watched the Hammerschat boys Last night in a video where they divided the Squad into four categories – Key Player, Important Player, Squad Player and Not for me. My Key Players were Fabianski, Rice and Antonio. My ‘Not for me’s’ were Roberto, Sanchez, Wilshere, Ajeti, Yarmolenko and Masuaku. The rest were hovering between Important and Squad players!

I’d give Snodgrass a higher rating. Only my opinion but he has been the hardest working player in claret and blue all season. He chases everything, even lost causes just to keep the pressure on. He is also the only player who actually has the bottle to put a cross in except for Cresswell.

    Spot on, Hugh!
    COYI and merry Xmas!
