Haller for Ajax update

|

Negotiations aimed at Seb Haller joining Ajax for a fee of around €25 million (£22.6m) will continue today.

Reports that the Dutch club are in for the striker are 100 per cent accurate but the deal is some way from completion.

Our understanding is that the two clubs hope to complete talks by the weekend or early next week which will see the Frenchman leave the Hammers after a disappointing spell.

He will become another casualty of the Manuel Pellegrini regime with the club taking in the region of  half the fee we initially agreed with Eintracht Frankfurt.

And should it happen – as is strongly hoped – it will open the way for the Irons  to bring in a back-up front man in the window although there is still a large outstanding to Frankfurt so funds will still be limited.

Since joining the club last year Haller has managed to make 54 appearances for 14 goals in all competitions.

Paul Colbor e us absolutely right. Our owners get a bad rap but actually they are doing a good job. We have them to thank for all the good signings recently.

    • Think you guys have misunderstood me here.I absolutely hate the owners and I think they are doing an absolutely terrible job..My point was that whether you blame the owners or the manager you have to be consistent.

  • Hammerian says:

Wow. I’m pleased that he’s off, hopefully, and I’m amazed at how much we’re getting for him tbh. I’m also amazed at how some people will use any news, good, bad, indifferent, it’s snowing, it’s too hot, to have a pop at the owners. I’m certainly not saying that they are perfect, a long way from it, but I don’t actually remember us ever having perfect owners. And, yes, they are businessmen, but surely no businessman wants to see an asset sold at a loss? This one, amongst others, is down to Mr Pellegrini I’m afraid. As is that other disappointment Anderson. Now, if we could just have an offer for him Ajax……………

    • If this one is down to Pellegrini then Coufal and Souchek are down to Moyes. Some people give the owners credit for the latter. We have to be consistent here.In my view the owners appoint the manager so should take criticism for Haller,Anderson,Sanchez and the dodgy goalkeepers.-But take credit for Coufal and Souchek.

      • And of course Bowen. They might also take credit for Rice, Fabianski and Johnson

Paul Colborne, Souchek, coufal, Bowen etc are thanks to David Moyes mate. All Sullivan does is sign the cheques, which he’s happy to since the money those players cost compared to the players pellegrini signed is nothing in comparison. Don’t know why you’re bigging up the owners.

Haller is the biggest winner of out all of this. Getting a move to Ajax is better I would have thought than he could have dreamed. For whatever reason, it just hasn’t worked with us and moving him on quickly is the right thing to do. I hope he does well, he’s got the talent, but more importantly I hope we can move on fast with a decent back up for Antonio.

  • Paul Lewis says:

Surely we cant sell him without first bringing in a replacement!!!!
It would be typical West Ham if we do though, and then rely on Antonio and his spaghetti hamstrings

  • DutchCourage says:

Pleased for Haller and Ajax, he’ll do well there. Surely we can’t let him go before a (match fit) replacement has been found and brought in. Wouldn’t however put anything past the clowns that run West Ham though.

  • GSBOUT says:

“Large amount outstanding”? Didn’t you guys publish an ‘exclusive’ at the time claiming it was almost all paid upfront? And then there was a second instalment last summer…

  • Mark says:

There is a large outstanding to Frankfurt so the funds will be limited? Excuse me? Instalment payments are literally how everyone in the world of football is doing business and we are calling it a debt which prevents us investing money. Incompetent.
