West Ham United defender Angelo Ogbonna has pinpointed the team’s lack of squad depth as a major reason for their underwhelming performance this season.

Ogbonna acknowledges the significant drop-off in West Ham‘s ability to cope with injuries, suspensions, and player fatigue, particularly during crucial moments of the season. This has arguably cost them a place in European competition next season and potentially a top-seven Premier League finish.

Ogbonna highlights the Europa League campaign as a key factor. The extra matches, especially the intense clash against Bayer Leverkusen, left the squad depleted and struggling to maintain energy levels in subsequent Premier League fixtures. Despite a spirited performance against Liverpool, fatigue ultimately played a role.

While expressing frustration with the recent results, Ogbonna remains optimistic about the club’s future. He emphasised the remarkable achievements in recent seasons, reaching the Europa League semi-finals and winning the Conference League, things that were unexpected before.

And who do we have to thank … David, David Moyes !!!
What a mess he has created, leaving the next manager with a huge challenge … to acquire a lot of new players, on the cheap. And get them ticking good from day 1 of the new season ! Coyi.

I thought it was the fantastic Steitden that was doing such a wonderful recruitment job last year, why doesn’t he bear any responsibility I thought that was his main job

I like Oggy. Him Creswell Noble. The last of the old Faithfull Upton Park Boys. Creswell and Noble dare not say anything. Yet. But Oggy is on his way so he’s got a bit of freedom to speak. When older long term loyal players like him give an opinion it would probably be wise to listen to what they say. He’s been around the club a long time and knows the fans well. Certainly better than dithering Dave.
