Hammer heart attack leads to defibrillator appeal

|

Our friends over at Hammers Chat are raising money to buy a defibrillator after a West Ham supporter suffered a serious heart attack on their boats before kick-off on Saturday afternoon. The popular boats were evacuated on Saturday afternoon prior to the game after the fan collapsed and nearby people with medical training performed CPR before an ambulance arrived some 20 minutes later,

Hammers Chat posted on their Twitter account “Earlier today on the boats, Richard (staff member on the boats) and Chris (a West Ham fan in attendance) probably saved someone’s life. Someone went to football and nearly left us, these two men are heroes! Thoughts from us all are with Dan, get well soon mate x”

They later added “Unfortunately there’s no change with Dan since yesterday. He’s still in a critical condition and has a battle on his hands. His family appreciate and you all for the best wishes and asking about him.”

Following the shocking events, Gonzo and Geo decided to raise funds to buy a defibrillator for the boats telling supporters We are doing our best to get a few things together in order to run a little raffle with all proceeds going towards a defibrillator machine for the boats, after Saturday’s events.”

“There will be no charge for our boats for the Newcastle United fixture, instead we will have donation buckets, with all proceeds going towards the defibrillator machine!”

At an upcoming home fixture (TBC) there will be an opportunity for anyone that wishes to come to the boats before the match to receive free CPR & defibrillator training. It will be prior to opening. Please let us know if you are interested in attending”

If you are interested in donating any prizes to Hammers Chat raffle or want to make a donation towards the defibrillator you can contact the Hammers chat boys at hammerschat@gmail.com
